Youth for Peace in the Mediterranean Sea
A 24-month capacity-building project connecting 9 organisations across 8 countries through peace education and cross-border cooperation.
What This Project Achieved
“Youth for Peace in the Mediterranean Sea” was a 24-month capacity-building project under the Erasmus+ programme. It brought together nine organisations from eight countries: Italy, France, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, and Spain.
The project focused on strengthening peace education across the Mediterranean youth sector through professional development, tool creation, and cross-border cooperation. It began with the identification of existing best practices and continued with a series of online and in-person activities, focused on professional development, local testing of new tools with youth groups, and the creation of participatory proposals led by young people.
All tools and results were compiled into a Manual and a set of videos, shared through multiplier events in each partner country for broad impact and sustainability.
What We Set Out to Do
- Boosted the competences of youth professionals so they could embed peace education into their projects and daily work.
- Exchanged experiences, tools, and methodologies between youth organisations across the region.
- Developed practical, inclusive educational resources for young people, especially those facing social exclusion, to learn about peace and justice.
- Encouraged youth engagement in peacebuilding efforts, from local actions to wider regional impact.
- Built an international network to promote cooperation between EU and Southern Mediterranean countries on peace education.
